52% what I purchased, 48% teaser for the next book. Color me disappointed.

I read the Archer Brothers series as a break in my normal fare of medieval historical fiction/ time-travel. The first installment hooked me from the beginning. I loved the hard working, loyal, caring Archer boys! The second was as good, and I anxiously awaited youngest brother Neill's story. As I purchased the book, I was disappointed that it was a novella, but desired to "catch up on the family," and have closure on the series. I must say that I enjoyed as much story as was given, however, half of a novella isn't much of a story. I was so disappointed when part of the family gathered at the ranch as Clara and her son's safety was assured, but the ending was definitely abrupt and hurried. At 58% of what I purchased, the saga suddenly ended, and I was left with Witemeyer's remaining 42% as a pitch for her next novel! Six chapters just to get more of my money. If you tend to business and give the customer a well-written, complete story, you don't have to worry about offering the teaser on their dime. Ummm...yeah...I feel cheated.

Too short!

A good third book to the series but we were shortchanged because of her so called novella. She wanted to "introduce" a new series instead of trusting her fans to read other books she had written. I'm disappointed in the way authors and publishers treat customers nowadays.
Her writing is great but I turned the page and there was the ending! I was like? Where is the rest of the story?

Incredibly Tender Love Story

A Cowboy Unmatched features the youngest Archer brother (Neill) and a young widow who surprises him at every turn and thoroughly lassos his heart in no time flat. The love story is incredibly tender, as independent, outcast Clara finds herself wooed by protective, understanding, and gentlemanly Neill. Throw in a figure from Clara's past who poses a threat to Neill and Clara's future, add in some brief appearances and mentions of the older Archer brothers and their families, and you've got another engaging Witemeyer read that offers a sweet ending to the Archer tales!

Bizarre but Very Successful Approach to Keeping Marriage Strong

“Kosher Lust”, a controversial title to say the least. Not one you expect from a “real” Jewish orthodox seriously religious rabbi. Yet, while Rabbi Boteach has become controversial specifically for publishing such titles and showing up in the mass media, he not only is a real orthodox rabbi, he is a real chassidic rabbi.

As for the controversial title, he’s clearly trying to reach a wide audience and using the shock value to do so. It’s certainly not a traditional technique, but it worked well enough that the book caught attention and we made a purchase.

This book is perfectly acceptable for a modest and religious or secular audience, presenting it’s ideas in a clean and modest way, and has a message of equal value for religious and secular readers. People of all or no religious faith can benefit.

The author starts with a startling and frightening premise… Houston, we have a problem with marriage:

- Divorce rates have been at 50% for 50 years!
- Married couples are now less that 45% of all households!
- There are more help books for marriage, marriage advice TV shows, marriage therapy, etc, available now than any time in history… yet marriage isn't working to the point that marital success is now a minority situation.
- The average duration of a marriage today is 8 years!
- 53% of children are now born to unmarried parents (averaged across all communities)!

These are all US statistics. In many other places the statistics are WORSE! In Norway and Finland, it’s 30% worse. In some South American countries, it’s 50% worse!

As the author says, it seems the only people who want to get married nowadays are same-gender oriented!

So the author successfully identifies his problem: Marriage has failed in the modern world. He then moves on to his primary theses… Too much “love”, warm – friendly – comfortable, too little “lust”, yearning – desire – striving to connect.

The rabbi points out that lust is discussed in the bible, it’s yearning for G-d, it’s thirsting to be connected, it’s the drive to be with G-d, and quotes biblical quotes supporting this.

He then discusses counseling sessions he’s had with people who cheat on their marriages. They often sit and tell how they love their spouse even though they were drawn to another. He uses a number of such stories to demonstrate that lust is strongly than love – though never sustaining. Just as it blows up in a big flame, it dies away. He follows this up with how lust fades away in a modern marriage.

He gets there with anecdotes, statistics, stories, and repetitiveness. The statistics and stories are good, the anecdotes tolerable, the repetitiveness – not so much.

Then he gets into understanding lust. “The three principles of lust… unavailability, mystery, forbiddenness.”

Finally he gets into how to infuse lust into your marriage, directing it appropriately at your spouse and thereby energizing a marriage for life. Naturally because lust is a “it blows up and dies down”, it’s a process that ebbs and flows. This section gets more graphic, discussing maximizing the marital relationship and biblical guidance for doing so.

For those who have spent a lifetime hearing about love and maintaining a warm loving relationship, the discussion is somewhat bizarre. But the author makes his point… marriage and the marital techniques being represented today aren't cutting it (perhaps with the exception of various serious religious communities – where communal mores either focus or prevent the interfering issues of modern society).

I buy the argument and make it a suggested read for anyone who’s marriage is cooling off or worried it might head there in the future. I'd buy it again and feel I've benefited from reading it.

One of the best relationship books I've read

One of the best relationship books I've read. No fluffy stuff Completely different way to look at relationships. Almost impossible to do all of it, but it's definitely a wake up call. He is an incredibly deep and brilliant thinker. I'm a new fan . I've loan the book and she loaned ir someone else, and then someone else. I cant get it back!!

This book is INCREDIBLE! The title of this book is an attention get-ter but the wealth of information is amazing. I'm a Catholic woman and I have many "rules" of what a healthy sexual relationship is with my spouse - this book blew me away. Of course, we all want to be desired by our partners it's what keeps the relationship alive. This book made me realize that "LUST" is not a bad four-letter word...it's a good four-letter word like "LOVE", and who doesn't want more of that in their intimate relationships??!! Get it!

Overrated

I think this book is overrated. It's value is really overblown across the various internet forums devoted to law school, and I feel that the lessons it teaches are narrowly applicable and may lead the unwary student into trouble with professors who are trying to teach their students to think a certain way, or prefer certain arguments over others. In any case, the ideas should be self-evident to the law student; but if you are not a good writer and have trouble organizing your thoughts quickly it may be helpful. I found that my professors' personal idiosyncrasies and testing styles made this book largely irrelevant to my exams. The book may be helpful if your professor teaches the course in the "classic" Socratic way and gives the "classic," pure issue-spotter exam. I think both of these are becoming less and less common across the board. But if you are a ball of anxiety, and you need something to help you sleep at night, this might be a cheap and effective palliative.

Must-Have for Law Students

This is a good book. A lot of the trouble with law school exams is law professors are notoriously bad teachers, and these bad teachers write bad exams. Granted, this is a worst-case scenario, but if you've been to law school for more than one semester, there's a good chance that at least one of your professors has utterly bamboozled you into how he/she wants the final written. So what this book does is give you something of a blueprint and a method of examining fact patterns and exploring the question(s) so that you can simply go into the exam and take it without much fear.

Where the book fails to be of help though, is with the IRAC method. I wholeheartedly agree that IRAC is a too-constrictive method of writing that tends to inhibit most students from really expressing what they know. Law professors largely want a mechanical recitation of rules followed by mechanical analysis, so law students spend hours and hours memorizing rules with the ultimate purpose of using them in an IRAC format. It's absurd, but that's the way it is. And this book simply dismisses the fact that lazy law professors love IRAC for the fact that it gives them a template from which they can read and score exams quickly.

But still, you can construct an IRAC using this method, it just doesn't lend itself seamlessly to it, which is pathetic--not with respect to GTM, but to the teaching and testing methods used by professors. If you don't believe me, and if you haven't already done so, go look at model bar answers from your state and see if they employ a rigid IRAC formula. They don't. And so to me, that's what this book was good for--being able to write bar exam quality answers that leave room for a different writing styles and methods of analysis.

If you're just starting law school, buy this book. If you're already in and still struggling, buy this book. If you're the king or queen of fastidious, multiple, anally retentive headers on your exams, read this book and go look at bar answers.

It's a Good Read, but Don't Waste Your Time

You're likely reading this book because: (1) you have been accepted to law school...congratulations by the way, or (2) you want to go to law school...also congratulations to you too. I read this book and I've just successfully completed my first year of law school. Here's what my impression of the book and my experience of law school say. Law school is NOTHING like your undergrad experience. In law school you are going to be asked to read anywhere from 60-120 pages a night, come to class the next day prepared to be cold-called on by the professor, and you'll be expected to have an intelligent answer. On law school exams you'll need to not only have the right answer, but give your analysis as to why you got to your answer. This book essentially tells you that: (1) typically the most right answer to a question in law school is "It depends." I guaranteed you that if you only offer those two words, you're professor is going to reply, likely aggravated at that point, "What does it depend on?" (2) On law school exams, you are going to be given the most ungodly complicated fact-patterns (scenario) to which you will be asked either to "discuss the liabilities and defenses for each party" or som other relevant question asking you to analyze the fact-pattern. (3) In law school, there is RARELY EVER a single black or white answer. Often, the professor could care less on what way you come out on your answer. The golden points are gained in a solid analysis. You MUST break down your essay answers in IRAC format (Issue, Rule, Analysis, and Conclusion). So you'll give the Issue (there will be a bunch of them so you'll be doing this IRAC analysis thing multiple times on your exam), then you'll state the relevant rule (hopefully you've memorized the rule), then you'll begin to do an analysis synthesizing the rule along with the facts from the fact-pattern. Finally, you'll give your conclusion based upon your analysis of the rule and relevant facts.

This book tells you to explain how and why you got to the answer you provided in your conclusion. If you simply provide an answer and not an analysis, you'll loose major points!

Generally Concerning Law School:
If you just can't help your pre-law school OCD self (don't worry, I was in the same boat) then go ahead and read this book, at least to kill time. The book itself is an easy read with many hypotheticals. Just don't expect to read it, or ANY book for that matter, and think you'll walk into law school killing it. Law school is a bunch of continuous kicks in the gut, over and over, until you decide that you either want to quit or that you are going to force yourself to learn the proper format and method of thinking. Law school is a great experience that is very satisfying, but be prepared to work harder than you have in your entire life. One fellow student who is a mother of three teen-age sons told me, "law school is harder than raising kids." Law school all boils down to two questions you must ask yourself, "How bad do I want it?" and "How disciplined am I to achieve this goal?"

Sometime back in the 40’s, Dr. Jake Wade was born into a musical family and raised in Missouri on a dairy farm. He learned to get up early, finish his choirs and beat his siblings to the breakfast table. Originally a military family, his father‘s work with a pipeline Company took the family through many moves, eventually landing them in Houston, Texas. Having evolved to being a tall, skinny kid in high school, Dr. Wade took the only reasonable path available and became an excellent basketball player. After running an engineering business, Dr. Wade put his vast education in engineering, metallurgy, physics, chemical engineering, welding and psychology to excellent use; building pipelines and fathering five children. The events led to becoming a country dweller on a small ranch near Austin, TX, where he was blessed with raising two more girls with his beloved wife Linda Simmerman Wade who went on to heaven in 2003. Special thanks are given to Cathryn Craig Wade, PhD, MBA. for her endless editing, advice and artistic views of life and the world which contributed greatly to this endeavor.

Spiritually uplifting!

Practical and intriguing, it helps me make sense out of life's mysteries. While I have always 'sensed' that the bigger picture of life involved forces and links beyond the immediate observable surface of earth and the daily routines, Dr. Wade's book puts it together in an understandable method. It is a practical guide linking science and the Bible, showing sensible interdependencies of the two. A great read!
